Heritage & Legacy
“What began as a fortunate discovery became a lifelong passion.”
In 1988, Sally and her mother Jane found their Berwick property almost by chance — the word serendipity captured it perfectly. What neither expected was that those first lavender plants would grow into a farm cherished by thousands of Australians.
From a cattle industry in downturn to a destination café, a Queen Victoria Market stall, and an opera in the fields — through every chapter, the commitment to handcrafting with care has never wavered.
The Foundation
Property discovered after an extensive search. The word serendipity was embraced — a happy, unexpected beginning that changed Sally’s life forever.
First 3,000 lavender plants take root. During the cattle industry downturn, customer demand sparks diversification — soaps, oils, sachets — the product story begins.
Expansion to Melbourne’s Queen Victoria Market. Sally leaves banking behind and commits fully — body, heart, and hands — to the lavender life.
Wholesale scales. A partnership with a family bottling company eases the labour — making room for more creativity, more growth.
Growth & Innovation
The farm reaches ~15,000 plants. Mechanical stripping transforms the harvest — a milestone of scale earned through eleven years of patient tending.
A five-star bed & breakfast opens, followed by a purpose-built café and retail shop. The farm becomes a destination — people come to breathe it in.
A pet cemetery is quietly established among the lavender rows — a tender corner that speaks to the community this land has gathered around it.
Development approvals granted. Annual open-air opera concerts launch in the fields at sunset. The farm blooms into something truly remarkable.
A New Chapter
The café, shop, and accommodation gently close their doors. A beautiful era of hospitality gives way to something quieter — and more enduring.
During a period of personal health challenges, Sally purchases two acres in Berwick — an act of quiet courage, because the farm must go on.
A new home and garden take root, with ~1,000 lavender plants. The farm enters its most intimate chapter — smaller, but no less full of love.
